Well, I am about out of ideas.  The best I can recommend is to call their customer service department and ask them. Friedrich Air Conditioning Co. Post Office Box 1540 San Antonio, TX 78295-1540 USA Phone 210/357-4400 FAX 210/357-4480 www.friedrich.com "It’s not American foreign policy, or the plight of the Palestinians, or America’s longstanding support for Israel. Thanks for the link. I’ve been driving myself crazy the last couple of weeks trying to research this. Unfortunately I didn’t find any links to local dealers. I really really want to see and listen to both these products rather than mail order them. We’re very sensitive to noise levels so the product has to be very quiet. Thanks, Jeff

I don’t honestly know (whether a humidifier would be more helpful). But I just can’t help but think that a cleaner/purifier couldn’t be a bad thing around these parts :-)

I went and got one of the Honneywell ‘Quietcare’ models that was sized for a larger room than I have.  This way I run it at a lower setting and it is very quiet. "They laughed at Galileo. They laughed at Newton But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown." Carl Sagan

Thanks Colin. I posted a response to you a few days ago but it never appeared, so here it is again. I looked through those links, and have in fact spent literaly hours on the internet doing searches. Unfortunately I need a local dealer so I can actually go into a store, plug the unit in, and listen to it for myself. Otherwise I’m afraid I’ll just have to end up paying to ship the thing back (we’re quite sensitive to noise in the bedroom while we sleep). Thanks, Jeff Adams

Are you sure that an air purifier would be better for your child than a humidifier?  I don’t pretend to know the answer to this question; I’m just asking.  Our local Bay Area air is pretty dry, especially in the summer.  I recall that during my childhood a humidifier helped my asthma a great deal during dry spells. Having said all that, our Bay Area air quality sure has been terrible this week.  I’ve been coughing and sneezing for several days. — (650) 236-2231 [daytime]        http://www.wsrcc.com/alison/ CA voters, send a message: write-in "Richard Riordan" in November 2002.

I don’t know of a Friedrich dealer locally but you can buy it mailorder. Top rated in Consumer Reports. see: http://www.genieac.com/c90.htm C90 Air Cleaner $375 + 55 ship. + tax

Thanks I’ll keep them in mind. But I really need to hear the thing for myself. I’d prefer not to have to pay $110 (shipping both ways) to find out it makes too much noise on low at night. -Jeff
