Question:
> will the doctor do other tests to see if you have asthma if you don’t pass this > one?
Asthma is diagnosed using lung function tests. Using a spirometer, or send you to the pulmonary lab. Lung function is measured before and after administering a bronchodilator inhaler. A significant improvement postbronchodilator tends to indicate asthma. Passing an oximeter blood oxygen level test isn’t all that meaningful. My pulmo doc tests it everytime I come in. Just clip it on the finger; gives oxygen level and pulse. Also checks my blood pressure. [I have a lung condition in addition to asthma]. Ellis

They put a device that looks something like a clothespin on your finger and it determines the % of oxygen in your blood. Painless, and only takes a few seconds. "The commander in the field is always right and the rear echelon is wrong, unless proved otherwise." General Colin Powell
