ASTHMA GUIDELINES Updated

Categories: Asthma Treatment

Question:

There is a great need for asthma education in the medical profession. Last year the NIH (National Institute of Health) propounded a new set of Guidelines for the Treatment and Management of Asthma.  Since then, the FDA has approved several new drugs.  Many emergency physicians and medical doctors engaged in family practice are not up-to-date with the new drugs and medical procedures. The NIH Guidelines, though only a year old,  need updating.  They also need to be more widely distributed so that they can become the standard of care. A consortium of volunteers of the American Lung Association of Los Angeles (the largest affiliate of the ALA) has updated the NIH Guidelines to include e newest drugs and created a pocket reference for medical professionals. This pocket reference is,  in itself a survey of the latest procedures for treatment and management.  They contain pertinent information regarding all the drugs, dosages, delivery systems and contraindications. In less than 15 minutes, a  physician could scan the pocket reference and boost his or her competence on the latest guidelines and procedures. Want to know more?
